IDC Launches IDC FutureScape: New Strategic Planning Tool for Today’s IT Executive

International Data Corporation (IDC) announced a series of complimentary Web conferences to review IDC’s Predictions for 2015. The Web conference series includes IDC FutureScapes, part of the newly launched IDC DecisionScape portfolio of decision-making methodologies.

idc_logo_neuIDC FutureScape is a planning tool designed to help technology professionals in their strategic IT planning efforts. The reports provide the foresight needed to inform technology-based strategies by putting forth a series of ten decision imperatives. Each decision imperative supports a 36 month planning process by identifying the business impact and complexity to address the projected imperative. To complement the new set of reports and traditional IDC Predictions, which are the industry standard, IDC will host the first IDC FutureScape Webcast, Worldwide CIO Agenda 2015 Predictions, on Wednesday, October 29th at 11:00 AM U.S. Eastern Daylight Time.

Since 2007, IDC has predicted, chronicled, and analyzed the industry’s remarkable shift to its “3rd Platform” for innovation and growth, built on cloud, mobile, social and big data technologies. As we look ahead to 2015, IDC’s worldwide team of analysts will share their outlook for the future as we enter the most critical period yet in the 3rd Platform era: the “Innovation Stage”. This stage will be defined by an explosion of innovation and value creation on top of the 3rd Platform’s foundation and a new wave of core technologies – “Innovation Accelerators” – that radically extend its capabilities and applications.

“Now that industry leaders have firmly planted their feet on the 3rd Platform, this next phase will be about fostering an explosion of innovation on that foundation, with hundreds of thousands to millions of new ‘killer apps’ and solutions that establish competitive advantage for their creators,” said Frank Gens, IDC’s Senior Vice President & Chief Analyst. “In many ways, this will be the most critical phase of development for the 3rd Platform. The biggest winners in the industry will be those that can capture the hearts and minds of this next generation of innovators over the next two years.”

The first in the series of IDC Web conferences, Worldwide CIO Agenda 2015 Predictions will provide valuable insights and essential guidance to CIOs, line-of-business executives, chief innovation officers, and senior IT leaders on how to lead their teams through a business and technology transformation. Led by IDC’s Mike Rosen, Adjunct Research Advisor, Serge Findling, Vice President of Research, and Joseph Pucciarelli, Group Vice President of IT Executive Programs Research, the presentation will help each executive plan for business and technology requirements, solutions, and capabilities as enterprises and their leaders evolve through 2015 and beyond.

“To thrive on the 3rd Platform, CIO executive teams need to develop role-based enterprise IT strategies that encompass strategy, planning, integration, operations, security, and compliance of mobility, cloud, big data and analytics, and social business,” said Meredith Whalen, Senior Vice President, IT Executive, Industry, and Investment Research Services at IDC. “Our series of Web conferences and new IDC FutureScape reports provide a valuable framework to help today’s leading IT executives successfully navigate the Innovation Stage to maximize 3rd Platform technologies, extend business opportunities, and prepare for the future.”
