Channels Should Be Prepared To Meet Demands On ‘Zero Trust’ Solutions

“As a leading channel partner, we deal with multiple industrial verticals. From a technically advanced BFSI sector in Mumbai’s BKC to a remote installation in some deep pockets of Jammu, we had to shoulder the responsibilities of business continuity for various companies as soon as the lockdown was announced”, he shares his experience encountering the lockdown. Neither we nor our clients were prepared for completely moving the operations remotely. The biggest challenges for us were VPN, migration of data to the cloud, and zero trusts when it comes to securing the infrastructure.

He also says that as soon as work-from-home concepts started hitting the market, many companies had started facing the wrath of phishing, remote attacks, policy-level confusions with respect to BYOD, and more. “India as a country was not evolved in 2020 to work on a full remote mode. However, in a matter of 2 weeks, we ensured that key departments of our clients work remotely”, he added.

According to him, the non-IT sectors were the ones that got affected heavily. “I am sure every solution provider would have been constantly advising their customers to go for zero-trust for ages. However, many companies had started realizing only after the pandemic,” he says.

Post-pandemic effects:

According to Mangesh, these are the key aspects he witnesses after pandemic are

  1. The role of CISOs in organizations is getting more prominence and many of them are part of the board.
  2. Even small enterprises started seeing investing in cybersecurity as life insurance. Even if there are no returns, one should need it
  3. Cloud adoption has gone drastically high post-pandemic. Enterprises that were dependent only on on-premise had gone 100% cloud or hybrid model.

Attack on data=Revenue Loss:

Mangesh, speaking on data theft says that many organizations which were thinking that data theft would be managed by backup had now realized it is any incident would cost their organization. “I can name a large BFSI organization in India who was in news for their data leakage had impacted heavily on their shares. This means, a small incident can cost not just the image but the revenue of the organization”, he said.

Zero Trust Security – The only way ahead:

Speaking on the way cloud adoption is happening, Mangesh foresees that enterprises that were reluctant on moving their data to the cloud had already started looking out for a secured cloud environment. “Of course, we cannot deny the fact that companies would not go fully on cloud. However, the ratio of the cloud: the traditional model of securing the data would change. Also in the coming days, the need for zero trusts will be high”, he says adding that the Indian Channel ecosystem should be prepared for meeting the demands from the customers especially in the zero trust areas.

Expansion plans:

Speaking on his expansion plans, Mangesh said, his organization is keen on looking at setting up physical offices outside India and expand the solution portfolio. “Before signing up with an OEM, we always look for the product quality and how successful their solutions can meet the demands of our customers besides the after-sales support. We have a progressive, transparent relationship where we encourage our customers to give neutral comments on any product.” As we cannot predict what might happen in the future, we are planning to be vertical-agnostic and be open to any customer in any industry. As a team, we are having close to 600 staff and would be increasing as we grow.
