CeBIT India, the premier international IT/ICT event organized by Hannover Milano Fairs India Pvt Ltd (HMFI), and STPI (Software Technology Parks of India), an autonomous society under Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Dept. of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India,confirmed their strategic partnership at CeBIT India 2015 to promote the Software & Electronics Hardware industry in the country. This is the second successive year that the two organizations have come together to boost the MSME sector.
The 100 MSME companies from across the country to showcase themselves at the STPI Make-in-India pavillion at CeBIT India, which is scheduled to take place from October 29-31, 2015 in Bangalore. In their first year of partnership, there were over 5000 business deals handled and 1300+ prospective customers met. Close to 300 deals were signed at the CeBIT 2014 STPI pavillion alone last year. In 2015, the benefits of partnering are amplified, as 10 of these MSMEs will be chosen to attend CeBIT Hannover 2016, thereby widening their access to global business opportunities.
Additionally, STPI will hold its annual ‘STPI IT Export Awards’ STPI, Govt. of India, to award the top performing IT companies of Karnataka for their performance during the FY 2014 – 15 on 29th October 2015 under various awards categories such as Highest growth in IT/ITES exports & Electronics Hardware exports, Highest exports from Mysuru, Mangaluru and Hubballi regions, Highest women employer, Women Employment, Women Entreprenuer of the year, Differently abled Manpower Employer etc at CeBIT INDIA 2015 for the second consecutive year. The awards have been categorized under 23 categories and will be judged by an eminent committee consisting of representatives from STPI, Government of Karnataka, Industry Body, Academia and Industry to confer the Prestigious STPI IT Export Awards – Karnataka for the FY 2014 – 15.
The Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) segment is expected to play a significant role in the emergence of the Indian economy. The development of this segment is extremely critical to meet the national imperatives of financial inclusion and generation of significant levels of employment across urban, rurban and rural areas across the country. Spurred by the ‘Digital India’ revolution, the MSME sector is poised to act as a catalyst to bring about this socio-economic transformation. India’s GDP is expected to touch 8.5 per cent, with the country likely to be a USD 5 trillion economy by 2025, according to research analyst KPMG. The MSME segment has the potential to emerge as a backbone for this economy and act as an engine for growth, given the right set of support and enabling framework. The MSME opportunity is to develop entrepreneurship and support growth led by innovation over the next decade by significantly increasing the share of MSME contribution to GDP from the current 8 per cent to 15 per cent by 2020, generate employment levels to the extent of 50% of the overall employment, more than doubling the current MSME workforce of 106 million across agricultural, manufacturing and services sectors3; and increasing the share of MSME contribution across key public and private industry sectors fulfilling increasing domestic demand, growth in exports, indigenisation and import substitution.

CeBIT India 2014 hosted 9311 business buyers from various industry spectrums over 3 days who were treated to an extravagant display of latest trends and technology by leading IT companies. The event saw the attendance of eminent industry leaders viz. like Dr. Vishal Sikka, CEO, Infosys; Mark P McDonald, MD and digital business strategy lead, Accenture; Helmut Schutt, CIO of Daimler trucks, buses and vans; Kumud Srinivasan, president of Intel India; and Norbert Schroeder, technical development head at Volkswagen India.
