Amazon Inks With Central Government For Attracting Sellers

Recently, Amazon India’s seller services unit has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) aimed at encouraging more small businesses grow their venture profitably online.

“We have come across millions of Indian SMEs who are very entrepreneurial and have a hunger to grow but do not have the necessary skill-sets to manage an online business,” said Gopal Pillai , director, seller services, Amazon India.

“Till date, Amazon.in has impacted over 100,000 sellers across the country to leverage the digital economy to grow and scale profitably and we hope that through this initiative, we are able to positively impact thousands of more sellers across India,” Amazon India Director – Seller Services Gopal Pillai said.

As part of the MoU, Amazon Seller Services Private Ltd (ASSPL) and NIESBUD will jointly undertake the exercise of training SMEs on understanding the e-commerce industry in India and its vast potential for growth.

The two will also provide SMEs with necessary online selling and marketing training as well as faculty support, Amazon said. In addition, training infrastructure, including classrooms, and hand-holding and guiding services will be provided, it added.
