Jaipur: CIO Association (Formerly Klub CIO), recently had unveiled its milestone 16th chapter in Rajasthan during the inaugural Tech Royals Summit 2024. The expansion marks a pivotal development in the organization’s mission of fostering collaboration among CIOs, CISOs and Digital Leaders nationwide.

Sharing his thoughts about the launch, Mr. Umesh Mehta, President, Governing Body of CIO Association said, “At a time when India is positioning itself as a global digital force, Rajasthan’s transformation into a technology hub represents more than regional growth—it’s a catalyst for nation-building. By establishing this chapter, we’re creating a powerhouse of digital innovation that aligns with the government’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’. Our network of technology leaders will be instrumental in bridging the urban-rural digital divide while accelerating Rajasthan’s journey from a cultural jewel to a technological cornerstone.”

Arun Attri will be the new president of the chapter while the other office bearers include Vinod Sharma ( Secretary) and Binod Roy (Treasurer). Speaking in detail of the association and the activities, on the sidelines of the event, Arun Attri, said, “ The association is committed to fostering growth and collaboration among its members through various activities. We plan to have regular knowledge-sharing sessions, including workshops, seminars, and webinars focused on emerging technologies and industry trends. Networking events will be organized periodically to enable members to connect, share insights, and explore potential partnerships. Our community engagement efforts include outreach programs to give back to society. Furthermore, we will hold roundtables and panel discussions with industry experts, OEMs, and technology consultants. Lastly, we aim to publish periodic newsletters or reports featuring case studies, best practices, and contributions from our members.”

Unique challenges in Rajasthan region:

CIOs in Rajasthan’s family-run businesses encounter unique challenges due to the legacy-driven approach of these organizations. Speaking on the same, Arun added that “Resistance to change is a significant challenge, as long-established practices create hesitation towards digital transformation.” According to him, cost concerns also play a role, with IT investments often viewed as expenses rather than strategic enablers. The decision-making dynamics in multi-generational businesses can slow down processes and dilute focus on IT priorities. “Additionally, convincing stakeholders to invest in robust cybersecurity measures and balancing tradition with modernity are significant hurdles. CIOs can navigate these challenges by presenting clear ROI models, sharing success stories, and prioritizing phased adoption of technologies.”, he said.

The association aims to create impactful collaborations with key stakeholders. The chapter is having strong plans to partner with government bodies to facilitate technology adoption in public services and smart city projects, including joint workshops and contributions to policy formulation. Community engagement will involve organizing educational programs and digital literacy campaigns to uplift local communities. Building strong ties with OEMs will provide members access to the latest tools, technologies, and training. These collaborations will also focus on co-hosted events and strategic partnerships.

Plans for Expansion of Numbers and Member Reach:

“To grow and diversify our membership, we are pursuing several strategies. We will highlight membership benefits, such as access to exclusive resources, networking opportunities, and discounts on events.”, Arun said and added that the leadership is aiming to welcome members from diverse sectors, including healthcare, education, and retail, to broaden our association’s spectrum. Referral programs will encourage current members to invite peers and colleagues to join. “Lastly, we will host customized events tailored to specific industries or demographics, ensuring relevance and value for all members.”, he concluded.
