Mumbai, April 5: With the vision of Digital India program to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy, Mumbai based Tchgyan, one of the leading cloud player in India had associated with Microsoft and NASSCOM foundation for a creating a digital-savvy NGOs.
While the Govt. will be doing what is needed using its machinery , one important segment which can be leveraged is the Not-For-Profits or NGOs. On daily basis , thousands of NGOs are working with millions of Indians on issues which are at the core of their existence. Traditionally , Microsoft has been donating Software to the NGOs via NASSCOM Foundation. However , more often than not , the donated software was not put to effective use by the NGOs. TechGyan has been working very closely with Microsoft and NASSCOM Foundation in conducting workshops all over India. One topic which was discussed was how to ensure that the donated software was used effectively .
As a first step , a need was felt to clearly identify the ICT needs of the NGOs. So NASSCOM Foundation engaged the services of TechGyan to assist it in devising an online ICT Audit . The same went LIVE at http://ictaudit.
As a second step , on 26th June 2015, a full day Workshop was organized for the NGOs at Mumbai Office of Microsoft . Suresh Ramani , CEO TechGyan, delivered the Workshop. Post workshop, the following NGOs signed up for the Pilot Implementation which centered around improving Productivity and processes with Cloud and Mobility using Office 365 as the primary platform
Family Planning Association of India (FPA), Pragatee Foundation, Habitat For Humanity and Balanand were the four NGOs covered under the scheme.
“We (FPAIndia) are on O365 platform from more than 6 months. It has gigantically impacted our daily work as capability and potential of this Office 365 cloud is enormous. This has impacted our routine work by contributing 50GB mailbox storage(Mail), 1TB of personal storage (one drive where data can be sync), SharePoint for Collaboration and Document Management, Yammer for organisational private tool for expressing their views and SKYPE for Business for complete communications (which also enabled us to support technically our branches by RDP).”, said Mukesh Surve, Director of Information Technology of the NGO.
Pragatee Foundation says that the recent implementation of Office 365 in their organization is the right platform for productivity covering complete needs in the area of Email, Collaboration, Document Management , Communication, Video Conferencing and Personal File Storage and Sync.
