Worldwide IT spending is projected to total $4.5 trillion in 2022, an increase of 5.1 per cent from 2021. Despite the potential impacts of the Omicron variant, economic recovery with high expectations for digital market prosperity will continue to boost technology investments, says the report. South India is one of the leading regions in India with unique aspects. While the technology growth is higher in the region, many channel partners are experimenting innovative ways to sustain the market.

“Pandemic had brought enormous change in the mindset of both channel partners and end-consumers. However, while the hybrid working model and educational institutions have started their classes back, the channel ecosystem is back to the pre-COVID era”, says Rajesh Kumar T, Owner of VB Systems, a leading channel partner specializing in the networking as peripherals segment.

2022 is a growth year as Indian CIOs (Chief Information Officer) accelerate their long-term digital initiatives, despite the ongoing Omicron scare in India, said Naveen Mishra, senior research director at Gartner.

Ram Agarwal of Pooja Tech, Kochi, a leading distributor of accessories and peripherals  shares a different view. “Most households started having a considerable number of computing devices (be it desktop or laptop or tablets). Thus, the need for a new device might be challenging.” Speaking on the new financial year, Ram raises concerns on the poor kick-start of the financial year. “The new year is not supportive and successive. We had started the year with very less demand from the market. I also want to make a point that the large distributors and OEMs had over-dumped the products in the last few months which would take months to liquidate. Thus, I feel it takes time to come over such issues”, he said.

Accessories business has grown from last 2 years along with pc business as everyone was working, teaching and learning from home through online most of customer who had old Laptop and desktop and don’t wanted to spend more on through new ones as prices were increasing they were keen to upgrade existing PC’s with SSD , Memories bigger screen monitors and more.

“As per our customer feedback most of IT Companies are still going to work from home as they are so comfortable doing it. Other than IT, financial, manufacturing and educational sectors,  who already started functioning physically is also a positive thing for us as we are starting to get good inquiries and orders from them. Going ahead, I feel this coming year will also be good as last year except the impact of the slowdown of the world economy and the impact of it on india may change the scenario”, says Vikram Gouraj of Global systems in Belgavi, a leading channel partner in Karnataka.

Days ahead:

The days ahead are going to be good according to Vikas Hisarya of Vishal peripherals, a leading distributor of the AP and Telangana region. While most partners say that the purchase cycle of the customers is saturated, Vikas has a different view for that. According to him, in the last two years, customers are getting used to the gadgets in one form or the other form. “Even though most of the customers come with a pre-decided and educated on the brand and product qualities, they are always happy for an expert opinion from the channel partner”, Vikas says further adding that partners should always be on the side of the partners and not just blindly listen to the vendors. “In my opinion, channel partners should try to understand the customers and serve what they need rather than simply following the vendors”, he said. Vikas also feels that high-end products are performing good than the affordable product ranges.

While there are issues in consignments in some of the major ports of China, many are anticipating that supply-chain of the networking and peripherals products might get impacted and we need to wait and watch.
