Being in business is a successful accomplishment in India. However, being a woman in the male-dominant IT business, that too from the Eastern side of this country, Manasi Saha, founder of Kolkata based Macaws infotech needs an applauds. Cell IT is proud to feature her on the Women’s Day.
“Doing business in Eastern part of India is tough. My journey was a roller costar ride. However, I was confident on my ability from the day one “, says Manasi who was a hardcore sportswoman. The athlete in her helped reinvent herself. “I was a national level high jumper that helped me a lot to set my goal and face all kinds of challenges in a very positive way. I do have a very supportive family.” It is hard to find people like Manasi who are open to dedicate their success to men. Manasi had one male support throughout her journey as an entrepreneur. “I owe a lot to several men in my family.My father had supported me for whatever I want to be achieve he taught me to be a fighter and take the world in my stride and to be optimistic. My brother motivated me though out my career, he told me to be like a bouncing ball, My father in law was the person who inspired me to start my own businessWhen I was 26+ .My husband understands me better than myself and always gives me unconditional support ,My son Scarifies his personal time for me.” Neverthless, she also thanks all the female member in her family who taught her not to forget the values and discipline and to be organized.
Manasi’s life mantra is on two things- Survival of the fittest and hate-to-lose. “Many companies fail to adapt to an evolving environment, especially when that evolution is caused by technological change, which can threaten their very survival in the process. So in IT is transform and evolve .”, she says further telling “I am a winner ,I believe we all are born to win but conditioned to lose”
Some of the suggestions she would lend the fellow women entrepreneurs is to have the desire for Success, willingness, and ability to learn new skills and habits.
“One of these things is an attitude you can adopt, one is a skill that can be easily learned, and the third is a personality trait few of us come by naturally but with a little practice can be successfully mastered. Success cannot be gender specific, if you want to be successful believe in yourself .” She also Set up SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic. Time Bound) goal for your success.
On her organization front, she says that the fiscal 2015-2016 a year of big change from on premises to the cloud. With the BYOD and CYOD concepts there was a change of area in the security domain too. Mobile security,Data Leakage, encryption and APTNGFW was few of them. Her company did reasonably well as per adopting technology is concerned. Her firm ventured into SMAC which was the key achievement in the fiscal.
The road ahead for Macaws is to give more focus into service segment . “Macaws is predominately a internet security company I want to spread our wings in OPEN Source, Cloud , Virtualization.”, concludes Manasi.
