airtel_logo_2Bharti Airtel Limited (“Bharti Airtel”), the third largest mobile services provider globally with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, today announced the launch of its Wi-Fi app – Airtel Hangout. Airtel customers can download the Hangout app free from Android or iOS store and seamlessly latch on to the network in these zones to experience faster internet speeds. With a big focus on Wi-Fi zones that provide customers a superior data experience, Airtel has already gone live across 8 locations in Delhi/NCR in a short span of time.

Announcing the launch, Ajai Puri, Director – Market Operations, Bharti Airtel said, “We constantly innovate to find newer ways to enrich the lives of mobile users in the country. With the Airtel Hangout app, we aim to enable more & more users to experience superior and superfast mobile internet speeds by seamlessly latching on to our Wi-Fi zone and enjoy many more internet capabilities on their mobile device on the move”.

On the installation of the app, a customer will have to validate his/her phone number to start the session on Airtel Hangout. Once validated, every time the customer is near an Airtel Wi-Fi zone, he will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network if he has given his consent to auto connect else he will get notified about the Wi-Fi network and he can connect to the network manually. Customers can make these necessary settings under the app preference settings. Airtel customers will just need to have an activated Airtel 3G/4G pack/plan since the Wi-Fi data consumption will be charged from this pack/plan.

Starting tomorrow, visitors at DLF Cyber Hub – one of the best eatery hubs in Delhi/NCR, will be able to connect to world class internet experiences on the move. This Wi-Fi zone will be an open platform for users across mobile operators having Wi-Fi compatible devices and will allow users a free quota limit of 25 MB per day per device. Users have to just switch on Wi-Fi on their device settings and connect to the Wi-Fi named “AirtelWiFiZone”. Post exhaustion of the 25 MB quota, the Wi-Fi will be available exclusively to Airtel customers via the Airtel Hangout app. Airtel’s other Wi-Fi zone locations in Delhi/NCR include Khalsa College, Gangaram Hospital, DLF Star Mall, DLF Grand Mall, Supreme Court, Delhi High Court and Khan Market. Airtel had also recently won the mandate for the launch of Wi-Fi services in MG Road, Sadar Bazaar, Sector 29, Sirhaul Village and Leisure Valley Park from the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG).
