Chennai: City’s leading IT association of IT dealers ‘Sneham’ had recently concluded the first edition of their flagship event IT Connect B2B expo in Chennai.
The event, organized to build the rapport between the buyer-distributor-seller supply chain, witnessed a gala inaugural by Dayanidhi Maran, Member of Parliament for Central Chennai and P K Sekar Babu, Minister for Hindu religious and charitable endowments and Dindigul I Leoni, Chairman of the Tamil Nadu textbook corporation.
Launch of ‘Dosth’ app:
The association had launched their new brand identities- flag and a website. Speaking on the occasion, Dileep Kumar, President of the association, said, “We are the sixth largest taxpayers and despite our tough times during the pandemic, our association has stood with people on various aspects. The app, designed to be a direct to customer will allow any buyer from Tamil Nadu not just to purchase a product but also to avail the value-added services provided by our members across Tamil Nadu”, he said adding that the name ‘Dosth’ (meaning friend) was the original name that evolved even before the association sneham was formed.
The app supposedly became most inevitable in the digital age as more than 70% of the IT sales had moved to online market players and large format retailers with deep-pockets. “In such a scenario, a digital initiative is similar to a start-up as the app, at some point of time, is expected to be a registered company with various levels of funding and the members of Sneham becoming a partner of the organization”, Dileep says. The other most important aspect of the app is to make it a market place, expand across South India, build value for the app and make this a profitable asset for the Tamil Nadu channel community.

I have not been participating in a physical event for almost 4 years. The expo gave an opportunity to experience a wide range of product lines and many were new. Since I am experiencing an expo after 4 years, I can find plenty of new products and the market had changed completely. In recent days, I had never seen such a well-organized pure-IT hardware event even in Bengaluru. What I really liked about the event was the physical touch and feel in the stalls. The expo opened up the minds of many partners like us and changed our views towards IT. We channel partners had always been confined to one or two brands in laptops or hard-disks. The stalls were the major attraction. While I appreciate the Sneham association for organizing such a large scale expo, I personally felt it was a better sourcing avenue for partners like us from Hosur.
