Suraaj Computer To Enter Security-Surveillance Market

B Swaminathan

Ernakulam, April 11:  Leading distributor in Kerala, Suraaj computer is planning to explore their fortune in the security and surveillance market. Suraj S Varma, CEO of the company speaks on the market scenario, plans for the financial year and more.

Suraaj“Our company performed reasonable well in the year 15-16 and we were able to grow by 20%. Q1 and Q2 as always were our two major quarters wherein we got that extra push to bring up the annual performance.”Suraj said. Suraj also added that his company was able to successfully increasing the market share of our distributing brands and had attempted introducing new technology products like Wireless AC in their portfolio. While increasing that overall reach in the state, the Suraaj computers will be eyeing of distribution of Security and Surveillance products.

Even though some of the challenges like shrinking margins and counterfeit products had impacted the business, Suraaj computers has planned to focus and strengthen to distribute networking products and accessories. Some of the leading brand the distributor deals are  Dlink (40%), Quick Heal (15%), Kaspersky (15%), Lenovo (15%), Dell (10%) and others (5%).

No geographical and online expansion:

Suraj says he has enough quality reach within Kerala and finds no reason setting up a physical branch. “We have sales representative in the South Kerala, North Kerala and a full fledge sales team and office in Central Kerala. Since Ernakulam is the vendor hub for the state, I believe that if there is strong sales team on the field as well a good back office support, it’s a lot easier to cover the entire state.”

On e-tail, he said that there is no doubt that the online business have taken a major chunk out of the physical retail. “We have no plans to foray into online space at the moment. Once there is an equilibrium maintained between the channel and the online community, we shall think about it.”, Suraj concluded.

Anti-Virus market to live:

Hari firmly believes that long as viruses exist, anti-virus programs will be designed to help protect users from online threats. Unless and until big OS giants plan to incorporate antivirus in their OS itself, there is a huge scope for antivirus products.

“One of our primary distribution vertical is the Antivirus. As far as our region is concerned, there is 100% literacy rate and people are well aware of the advantages of antivirus software. So the Antivirus business here will maintain its pace without fail. And in the upcoming time, people would likely be exploring the antivirus products in terms of features and there will be a shift from basic security products to Total and advanced security products as the usage of internet has become more common and majority of people are using more often to carry out financial transactions, online accounting and more.”, Suraj noted.
