Mumbai based Fusion software which was predominantly into reselling of key apple products had forayed into training of 3-D printing through their own course materials. With the focus on Gujarat and Maharastra in the first phase, the company is planning to target students across the country soon. The company is planning to set up training centers across India and is vigorously looking for partnerships. In a chat for Cell IT, Shyam Trinath, CTO of Fusion software who is also the numero-uno behind the project explains the training segment of the company and plans.
Cell IT: Please explain in detail, your foray into the teaching of 3-D printing
Shyam: 3D printing offers of a dimensional clarity of any idea. Most all that we see and experience is 3D . Technology offers to generate ones ides in those dimension without being savvy of complicated skills and knowledge. A fourth grader can generate ideas which a few years would be a domain of a mechanical and electronic engineer spending months in a shop floor.
For example the main components of a four wheeler are available like a lego model on basic application. One can use a set of component and then rework on it before firing to a 3D printer. For a fourth grader kid that possibility is available. The skill of using the application can get intense as the kid challenges his or her skill –mastery level.

Cell IT: What is your roadmap for your training division?
Shyam: We are building the awareness of the technology by participating in exhibition and show casing the technology to the educational institution. As in any education there is a need to take the various stake holders into confidence. Here we have the parent, students, faculty and the management of an institution
Cell IT: How many students you are planning to focus and in which regions?
Shyam: Presently we are in the process of offering a three months course to the various colleges in Mumbai and Surat (Gujarat) and at a later date we will offer the course ( refresher course) to the industry personnel’s
Cell IT: What are the unique ways you have framed your course work?
Shyam: The course we offer are project driven and the lesson plan takes a review of the evolution of the manufacturing process over the centuries. A student realizes what took decades to move from point A point B, for instance a motor after its invention took decades to be installed into a car. In the 3d Printing world the factory as moved to the desktop.
Cell IT: What are the five reasons 3-D printing has huge employability in future?
Shyam:
1. More customised products. Additive manufacturing (3d Printing) lends itself to the production of customised goods, and could allow us greater individuality in everything from our clothes to our cars and home interiors.
2. A new era of creativity. 3D printing opens up new possibilities for amateurs and professionals alike to follow their imagination, and could stimulate the creativity of a new generation of artists, designers and engineers
3. Faster medical progress. With the advent of printers that can create instant customized implants, mortality rates in hospitals and emergency rooms are expected to fall.
4. Stronger, safer vehicles. Building planes with 3D-printed components will make them lighter and stronger. It will also make them cleaner and more fuel-efficient.
5. Faster design and innovation. In the world of design and manufacturing, everything from new car models to food and clothing can be designed more rapidly, helping to bring products to the market faster. Given that 3D printers save time and money, designers will be able to pay more attention to streamlining the function of their inventions.
Cell IT: How a channel partner, looking for change can get associated with you?
Shyam: We have a simple process. The channel partner should desire to be in education for a long haul. And in case a channel partner has the relationship with the educational institutions it helps.
We have ‘train-the-trainer’ system. The curriculum of a world standard and the bridging of the courseware to the existing lesson plan of an institution.
Cell IT: Will there be a business opportunity to train the students in their region?
Shyam: We see a tremendous scope and the students and the industry will benefit from the courseware we have for 3D printing.
