Swami: Please explain in brief, the IT scenario of TVS Group ?
Dhandapani : IT in TVS Motor aims empower the business executives to develop strategy, fix goals and achieve targets. The consolidated IT set up work on simplified three platforms – SAP, Dot Net and IOT. Most of the key business process is enabled from manufacturing to EHS, from product development to finance, from Supply chain to Human care, from Industrial relations to security.
Swami: List out some the major achievements of your tech team in the last financial year
Dhandapani: Adoption of IoT and M2M in manufacturing for automation, process control and traceability, Analytics and reporting for productivity improvement, In-house developed dealer management system (DMS) for small dealers on Pvt Cloud are some.
Swami: What are the plans you have for the IT infrastructure of your organization?
Dhandapani: The robust IT infrastructure to ensure users accessing to IT system 24×7 for 365 days from anywhere securely. The users should experience Google, when they access enterprise system. Executives should be induced work on enterprise system instead of local excel sheets for which simplification is the key.
Swami: What are the top 5 spends in your organization in the coming days? (prioritize accordingly. For example, Virtualization, Networking, security, cloud etc)
Dhandapani: Networking, Security, Private cloud, Virtualization, Application development and deployment, Bigdata analytics and so on.
Swami: What are the key expectations of any Automobile industry CIO from any vendor? (Like performance, cost, post-sales and more)
Dhandapani: Applications that helps in reducing emissions, improve quality and performance.
Swami: What are the recent examples, the IT department of TVS has transformed your organization as a whole?
Dhandapani : Transformation is a moving journey and cannot be expressed a completed. We are in the journey and take initiatives based on business requirement and ensure sustenance.
