Soft launch of STPI Electropreneur Park (EP) at Bhubaneswar

epsoftSoftware Technology Parks of India (STPI) has soft launched Electropreneur Park (EP), an ESDM CoE at Bhubaneswar. EP is being established by STPI with support from Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India and Government of Odisha to boost innovation, creation of IPR and product development in the region. EP Bhubaneswar will be the second ESDM incubation centre after EP Delhi. IIIT-Bhubaneswar has joined hands with STPI as the knowledge and academic partner and India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) as the implementation partner for industry connect, mentoring support and outreach.

The Soft launch of Electropreneur Park (EP) at Bhubaneswar is done by Shri Suborto Bagchi, Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority on 23rd December 2019 in the gracious presence of Shri Tusharkanti Behera, Hon\’ble Minister for Electronics & IT, Govt. of Odisha; Dr. Omkar Rai, DG, STPI; Shri Rajiv Kumar, Joint Secretary, MeitY, Govt. of India; Shri Hemant Sharma, Secretary, MSME, Govt. of Odisha; Shri Manoj Mishra, Secretary, Electronics & IT, Govt. of Odisha; Shri Manas Panda, Director, STPI-Bhubaneswar; Jitendra Chaddah, Senior Director, Operations & Strategy; Intel India & Chairman IESA; Shri Praddep Gupta, MD, Cybermedia & Chief Mentor, EP Bhubaneswar; other dignitaries and industry leaders.

On this occasion, the portal of Electropreneur Park (EP) is also unveiled by Shri Tusharkanti Behera, Hon\’ble Minister for Electronics & IT, Government of Odisha. The process of inviting online application from the startups & innovators to be incubated in EP is started along with the soft launch of this CoE.

Global semiconductor design & manufacturing company Texas Instruments (TI) has expressed intend to partner for knowledge, mentoring and networking support to the Electropreneur Park, Bhubaneswar. The partnership will be in terms of business & technological mentorship to the entrepreneurs, startups and innovators of EP-Bhubaneswar.

Expressing his thoughts on the launch of EP, Dr. Omkar Rai, Director General, STPI said, “Electropreneur Park, Bhubaneswar will uphold the lofty objectives of the Make in India initiatives heralding a new ESDM growth story of the country. This EP is going to make sure that it would afford much needed infrastructure and other support system required for the startups and entrepreneurs in the field of electronic system.”

He further added, “The CoE will focus on leveraging IT strengths and creating a new-age industry, which will play a major role in making India a product nation.”

Around 50 startups to be incubated over a period of five years in the EP-Bhubaneswar, which will focus on verticals like Energy, Process Control & Industrial Automation, and Education. However, innovative ideas in ESDM pertaining to Agriculture, Disaster Management, Healthcare & Smart City applications shall also be supported.

Jitendra Chaddah, chairman, Indian Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) said, “The consumption of electronics in India is growing at a rapid pace. The market is estimated to touch $400 billion in the next four to five years. The Electropreneur park in Bhubaneswar can play a very critical role in meeting the demand-supply gap”.

Coinciding the event, a technical session was held on ‘Opportunities for Startups & creating enabling ecosystem for Electronics Design & Manufacturing,” where the top Industry leaders like Shri J Chaddah, Cadence; Dr. Satya Gupta, Senzopt; Dr. Verrappan V, Tessolve; Shri Anish Pandari, National Instruments; Shri Mrinal Das, ECE & Shri Sandeep Aurora, Vice President IESA shared their vision & thought on how to make Odisha as a vibrant destination for ESDM industries.
