Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu appointed former chief secretary Dinesh Kumar as vice-chairman of Apex policy advisory board and mentor for Institute of leadership, excellence and governance set up to make Andhra Pradesh Number one in the country by 2029. Towards this aim, the state has taken several initiatives and has got encouraging results in GSDP growth rate as well as global benchmarking indices such as MPI (Multi-dimensional Poverty Index), EODB (Ease of Doing Business), Happiness Index and GCI (Global Competitive Index). However, to propel the next phase of growth, a need was felt to create expertise in governance and policy research.
Hence, the Government of Andhra Pradesh established global institute of research, learning and knowledge sharing in the domain of public policy, public administration and governance. The institute will work towards supporting Vision 2029 of Andhra Pradesh.
To start with, the institute will have following four Centers of Excellence including Center for Leadership – for enhancing the capacity of human resources, Center for Governance – for policy research and governance process reengineering, Center for Design & Standards – for developing and providing standards, designs and planning services and support,Center for Competitiveness – for research on strategies to improve regional and global competitiveness
More centres may be created at the institute as and when required to further its objectives. To provide expert inputs and advice, the institute will have an Apex Policy Advisory Board of eminent persons across various domains such as educationists, bureaucrats, thinkers, philosophers, economists, industrialists, philanthropists etc. The advisory board will be chaired by Chief Minister and Dinesh Kumar, IAS (Retired)is the Vice Chairperson of Apex Policy Advisory Board and the mentor for leadership program and capacity building
The inseitute of excellance will start function from Vijayawada. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu appointed former chief secretary Dinesh Kumar as vice-chairman of Institute of excellence in recognition of his services. Dinesh Kumar is also going to play a key role in new system VIADUCT introduced by Chief Minister in recent secretaries meeting to increase public satisfaction over Govt programmes.
